About PixelKrypt

We dig up the numbers

PixelKrypt tracks how many people play every game on Steam, what it costs across stores and key shops, and when the next big games come out. In English and Hungarian, independent and non-commercial.

Where the data comes from

Only official APIs and services that allow this use. Each one is credited where its data appears.

Busy games get checked more often

Steam has almost 200,000 apps, so we check each game as often as its player count deserves. A game that suddenly doubles moves to the fastest lane on its next check.

  1. 1,000+ players · every 5 minutes
  2. 50+ players · every 30 minutes
  3. a few players · every 6 hours
  4. nobody playing · once a week

Key shops, shown openly

Key shops resell game keys, often for less than official stores. We show their best current price next to the official stores and link to GG.deals’ full key shop comparison. Official and key shop prices are always kept apart, so you can choose.

Which videos we show

Game pages show the most watched YouTube videos of the past week, chosen for an English and Hungarian audience: we leave out videos whose language, channel country or title script is Russian, South Asian or East and Southeast Asian. Titles are shown as YouTube has them and open on YouTube.

How we measure

The same measurements players know from Steam Charts, explained in plain words.

Players now

The number of people in the game at our latest check, as Steam reports it. Steam caches it for 10–15 minutes, so a few minutes’ delay is normal. A count older than two hours is not shown as “now”.

24-hour peak and all-time peak

The highest count we saw in the last 24 hours, and the highest since we started tracking on 26 October 2026. Older peaks from before that date are not included.

Average players and monthly gain

Averages are taken over every check in an hour, a day or a month. The monthly table compares each month’s average with the month before, like Steam Charts.

Trending

The average over the last 24 hours (or 7 days) against the 24 hours (or 7 days) before. Games need at least 100 players so three friends cannot make a +900% headline.

Breakouts, 1.0 launches and old-but-gold

Breakouts were released in the last 60 days, ranked by players now. A 1.0 launch is a full release at least two months after early access. Old-but-gold games came out eight or more years ago and still draw a crowd.

Records

A new all-time peak counts as a record only for games we have watched for at least 14 days, so a game we just started tracking cannot “break a record” on day one.

Prices

Prices are in euros for Hungary and the EU, from IsThereAnyDeal and GG.deals. “From” means the lowest current price across shops, key shops included; the game page shows every shop separately.
